Great Emergency Kit Idea

So I'm finally going to post about the emergency kit! :) lol
I found this particular plan on pinterest quite a while back, and I've finally decided that it would be a good time to go ahead and get started! It's never too early to be prepared, and I LOVE to be prepared. :D
You can read Lovely Little Snippets' original post here.

The plan is to divide up all the items for the emergency kit, and add the items a few at a time on a weekly basis. You can't get any easier than that! :)
The first week is pretty simple..a container to hold your kit. Check!

Here was my process:

I made a cute label and a matching list.

I laminated my label and cut it it out.

I velcro'd the label...

and here is my finished product!

I really like the way it turned out! And the weekly plan is genius. :)

Here's a free printable of the 52 week emergency preparedness kit list:

Why I didn't post about emergency kits yesterday...lol :)

So, I had a pretty good post to write about yesterday...I promise I did. However, when I got home, my sweet husband had this...

and a real sweet card :)
AND.....

THIS!!!

Oh my goodness :) isn't he precious!?!?
So, needless to say, I was pretty busy all afternoon! :)
We still have to name him...I think we're going to name him Tyson, but not sure if that's set in stone yet. I just love him! :D

how precious! :)

and my sweet husband..

So I promise that sometime in the very near future I will post about making an emergency kit! :) (which was my original plan! lol)

Have a great day! -Britt

Awesome 90 day Bible reading challenge and cute FREE printables

Yesterday I read a neat post on radicallychristian.com about a 90 day Bible reading challenge.

I've always wanted to read through the entire Bible, and doing it in 90 days sounded really appealing to me! (patience is not one of my strong points :/ ) :) So I am going to give this particular reading plan a chance, and I made some cute printables to go along with it!

Click here to download your free Psalm 119 printable.

Hope you like them!
What about you? Have you ever read the entire Bible?
Anyone care to join me in this challenge?

Have a great day! -Britt

Words of Wisdom Wednesday

Hi! Welcome to Words of Wisdom Wednesday :) I decided to start Words of Wisdom Wednesday to help me with scripture memorization. I really believe that memorizing scripture is very important but it's definitely something that I'm slacking on, so maybe this with help with accountability!

Since this blog is called "A PROVERBS 31 Home," I thought that would be a great place to start! :) So, this week's memory verse is:

Proverbs 31:10
"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."

Also, I don't know about you, but I LOVE music. It really speaks to me. :) So, I'm also going to include a song every week with a few of the lyrics that really stand out to me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

John Waller - As for me and my House

To one King
We bow down
As for me
And my house,
We will only serve the Lord

Have a great day! -Britt

"I'm gonna make my bed!"

“I’m gonna make my bed.” Oh my goodness! You guys have no idea how EXCITED I was to hear those words. :) I’ll explain why, but first I want to give you a rundown of the precious weekend we had! We had a cleanup day at our church. It’s always fun to do things with our church family. We don’t see them often enough.

I should mention that the majority of the ‘work’ was done outside...and since we do live in Alabama, outdoor work most often includes one of Luke’s very favorite things: tractors! He absolutely had a blast. He drove this tractor:

and this one...

Isn't that the sweetest little wave you've ever seen?? lol

and then he drove this gator thingy...

and somewhere he found these flags lol

I think it's safe to say that he definitely enjoyed the cleanup day more than anyone else!

The highlight of my weekend, however, came Sunday morning...
I got up and turned on a movie for Luke and went to make myself some coffee. When I went back into Luke's room a few minutes later, he was standing up on his bed, like he was about to get down. I asked him what he was doing, and he said "I'm gonna make my bed!" Ahhh!!! I was thrilled lol and let me explain why...(besides the obvious reason that a four year old just voluntarily mentioned making his own bed) See, my sister and I spent quite a bit of time making him a little routine chart for mornings and nights. Since he's about to have a birthday, I thought it would be a great time to go ahead and  get the routine chart implemented. So my sweet friend Kristen helped me take this...

and make it into this... :)

We laminated all of it, and then cut out the check marks and put velcro on the backs of them so he can just stick his little check marks on there after he does each task.
I was beyond excited with the outcome! :D

Saturday night Luke and Michael and me went over his 'night' checklist and he checked them all off. He loved it! But the reason that I was so excited when he said he was going to make his bed is because we never even went over the morning routine!!! He just did it all on his own! SUCCESS!! :D
I'm so glad he liked it. I think it's going to be great for him. His reaction was definitely worth the time and effort we put into it.

Here he is with his bed all made up! (ok I helped a little)

And here he is with his check mark on 'make bed.' :)

He was so proud!!

(special thank you to Brandi & Kristen for your help on this little project!)

What about you? Do you have any chore lists or routine charts that work for you? I would love to hear from you!

Welcome to 'A Proverbs 31 Home!'

Hi! My name is Brittani and I am so excited to give this blogging thing a shot. :) Thank you so much for stopping by! I’ll start by letting you know a little about me and my plans for my blog.

I live in sweet home Alabama :) ROLL TIDE ROLL!! I have been married to my precious husband, Michael for almost 7 months now. He is so good to me!! God could not have made a more perfect match for me. I love him more than I can even begin to explain.

My stepson Luke will be FIVE in just a few days. He’s a sweetheart. He definitely takes after his daddy!!

My sweet puppy Ava makes me happy :) she’s so playful and it makes my day every time she runs up to my car with her tail wagging like crazy when I come home.

I attend church at New Prospect Baptist Church.

I have no doubt that it was God’s plan for Michael and I to attend church here. We couldn't ask for a better church family. They are so loving and friendly!

I love God and I strive daily to be the woman/wife/stepmom that he wants me to be and even though I fail him often, he has absolutely blessed me beyond belief. I truly hope that with this blog I might be able to point someone to him. I named my blog ‘The Proverbs 31 Home’ because I hope to emulate the Proverbs 31 woman and honor God with every task I have been given within my home. I intend to post about anything home related...cleaning, organizing, decorating, printables :D, and of course my family. I hope you take the time to get to know a little about me and I hope I might be an encouragement to someone somewhere. Again, thank you so much for stopping by, and I hope you’ll take the time to join me on my journey to create for my family ‘A Proverbs 31 Home.’ God Bless!
